Immediate Surroundings is an assemblage of eight sonic collages that represent the human experience through familiar, everyday moments. Each one is an immersive soundscape that pursues connection with the listener by presenting relatable, contemporarily universal themes. The basis for all pieces are exclusively field recordings made over the past three years (2018 – 2021), drawn straight from the artist's daily routine. The personal experiences from his audio diary are a window for routine, urban life, and vulnerability, with an intimate and humorous approach. By selecting natural field recordings and preserving each one's original sonic properties for the most part, then layering and processing them as a whole, dynamic and evolving soundscapes – sometimes subtle, at times overpowering, are created. An abstract portrait is the result, a blend of real and illusive properties. This dreamlike environment is an invitation for awareness and consideration of one's own experiences. Through the artist's personal account the listener can perceive familiarity and identify with these bonding episodes, reflect on their memories and recreate their personal narrative.

To guide the listener, visual aid comes to represent each sound piece via collaboration with Brazilian-Japanese video maker and photographer Oga Julia. She authors and co-curates a series of analog photographs to match each of the eight sonic collages.
Dedicated to everyone who was present in the immediate surroundings that were captured in these recordings – identifiable or not.
